Merge Clips from synced audio
I am working on some documentary footage shot on the Canon T2i and 5D. We are recording from a radio mic on our subject and occasionally a boom, which is fed into the camera as well as recorded to a deck. The audio that is attached to the video files is over-modulated with a fair amount of hiss so I want to sync all video to the recorded audio files and replace that bad audio. When the audio is delivered to me I convert it to 48.0 kHz wav files and line it up with the video using Plural Eyes, which so far has been working pretty well. After checking the sync I delete the bad audio, link the video clips to the good audio, and drag the linked clips into the browser to create merged clips. I’m running into a couple problems:
1) audio was recorded continuously. Hence if I’m merging a two minute video clip with a section of a thirty minute audio clip, the merged clip is thirty minutes long with 28 minutes of black, even if I trim the audio in the timeline to match the start and end of the video. Is there any way to get around this?
2) should I be exporting the merged clips as new Quicktime files and editing with those? It seems that this would cause a problem during delivery since these files will have no link to the original camera or sound files. Thanks very much,
Tory
