merge clip unsuccessful

some updates on tests i did:

my video files are .rev and were reverse telecined on cinema tools.

i can merge my video files with other audio files i downloaded online

i can merge my audio files with some other video file that has not been rev telecined.

however, i still cannot merge my .rev video with my original audio!

Yup, that’s the way it works. Your merged clip will have beginning & end points to match the longest parts of your media (remember, it’s merged!), & the in & out points will match whatever the in & outs were at the time you merged the clip. If you want the media start & end to match something else, you’ll have to either create sublcips or export them to make new clips. You may or man not have issues using the Media Manager later on if you choose this workflow.

Personally, I don'[t bother merging clips. I make a time line for each camera roll, sort my logged clips by timecode start & throw them all in at once. Then I synch the sound to each clip & when I need to add one to a timeline, I just cut & paste the synched, but independent clips from the synch timeline to the editing timeline. Voila! Your milage may vary.

Josh, when you say the audio “starts later” do you mean that when you drag or edit the clip into the timeline, the audio is physically displaced?
i have seen this happen before.

in that case the problem was that the video clips didn’t have a REEL #.

when we gave them reel#’s they behaved properly.
