Mercalli V4 Plug-ins for Vegas Pro
Posted by Wayne Waag on September 23, 2015 at 3:26 pmGiven all the gloomy prognostications regarding the future of VP, here’s a bit of good news, a Mercalli 4 plug-in that allows batch stabiliztion. Also a plug-in for fixing CMOS distortion. I use the SAL of V4 which is quite impressive, but this should be even better–no more rendering out and importing back.

Yeah, it’s a freebie. LOL. For owners of V4 SAL, it’s $79 US, which I think is a bargain. That includes both the Stabilization and CMOS fixer plug-ins. The 20% discount seems good through the end of October.

September 23, 2015 at 4:27 pmWell, I went through the upgrade option – having the SAL already – and it “appears” I am paying for the SAL again. Look at the list on the proforma. I could be wrong.

September 23, 2015 at 7:59 pmI purchased the package, as the reviews and demos are amazing.
Here’s what I got …
A fully functional standalone product
A CMOS plugin for Vegas that I cannot register (it rejects my code)
A Mercalli plugin for Vegas that doesn’t even appear in the effects list.I’ve emailed for help; we’ll see what they say. But so far I’m (obviously) not very happy.

September 25, 2015 at 5:20 amSo, this is interesting …
Customer Service was able to get my CMOS plugin working (they don’t have a solution, yet for the absent Mercalli plugin) …. but the CMOS plugin is acting weirdly.
This is source video … https://www.dropbox.com/s/4iwn36n8m5vayi9/G0016077.mp4?dl=0
The CMOS Fixer plugin produces this output, with a really weird flicker on the left side of the frame.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/0y6qev22fp1iw5n/prodad%20test.mp4?dl=0
Note, that that’s the side covered up by the “source” when you have the system set for horizontal compare … you’d never see this when testing until you do an actual “results” output.
The same results happen with the SAL+ application, as well …

September 25, 2015 at 9:08 pmWow …that wobble is something else.
the clip I did, something’s gotta be wrong in the CMOS Fixer functionality … the LEFT side has issues, but the RIGHT side does not …
Makes me really wonder …

September 26, 2015 at 2:13 amOk, so new clip …
The previous one used a rubber shock mount on the GoPro, which may have produced wobble past what prodad can handle.
This clip is a straight mount w/a bicycle seat-post mount clamp. It seems much a much better output …
Remember this is CMOS fixer only … no Mercalli.

you can really see how the CMOS plugin stabilizes things.

this one it almost looks like (yes, pardon the pun) the camera is on rails.
