I am importing an edited video file (created using something called an Avid and then burned to a DVD format) that already has chapter points set. This is for a training DVD I am making with about 60 exercises on it so each chapter point is a different exercise. This way the viewer can just click forward and progress though all exercises.

I want to make 5 buttons (1-play all; 4-separate training sections) as there are 4 main catagories of exercises. Since the chapter points are already on the edited video prior to importing it into DVDA2, is all I have to do is insert a ‘Scene Selection’ menu on the main menu?

thanks for any help you can provide.

all the best and freaked out,
    Jeremy

It may be possible if each of the chapters on the DVD is in it’s own VOB file. I haven’t tried it, but rename the VOB files to MPG and copy them to DVDA. Preview each to see what you have and go from there.

You may need to also extract the AC3 audio file from the VOB file.

Sounds interesting – let us know if it works.

It’s just not going to be that simple. You would have to deconstruct all the elements, then put them all back together with the modifications. That’s not a task I would want to have to tackle.

Your best best is to rip the .vob and separate ac3 files (discussed many times here) and start a new DVDA project with the media.

    Gary,
Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately I have no idea what you are saying as I am new to this whole thing. How can I find out more in a step by step fashion?

    thanks again,
    Jeremy

What software would I use to extract the audio?

All I have to do for the vob files is rename the extension?

    thaks

First things first. Rename the VOBs to MPGs and drag them into the Vegas timeline or DVDA project window to see what you have.
