  • Menu Image Resolution – URGENT HELP NEEDED!

I’m currently in the process of authoring a DVD in Encore CS3 and have designed the menu’s using Photoshop CS3. The menu files have the following specs:

    1600 x 900 pixels @ 150 pixels per inch

    Pixel Aspect Ratio is Square

All the images I have created are crystal clear but when I build a DVD using these images and play it back on any screen be it computer monitor or TV, all backgrounds/buttons etc are blurry and just look terrible.

Can anyone explain why this might be and what is the best solution to rectify the problem?

In Photoshop CS3, begin by creating a new blank file using the Film and Video preset and the the NTSC size.
Add your elements and preview at 100% zoom.
Stick with NTSC safe colors and Sans serif fonts.

Sorry, forgot to mention a couple of things…

    1. I’m in Australia and therefore use the PAL format

    2. The project is in 16:9

Should I just use the DV Pal widescreen settings in Photoshop?
I only ask this as all the text and images still appear distorted.
