Menu animation looping problem…
Posted by Reloaded on August 18, 2006 at 7:42 pmHi there.
I’ve created a very complex animation to be the BG of my menu, it’s perfect in the preview mode, it loops and everything goes fine, but when I record my disc it only plays the BG animation once and then the screen goes black.
The loop option is set to forever.
What I’m doing wrong???Thanks for any kind of help.

August 18, 2006 at 7:48 pmIt sounds like you have the end action of the menu set to Stop (which is OK), and you have set the Override (which is not). Delete what you have set in the Override control of the menu. AAMOF, delete all overrides that you have set in your project.
Overrides are special navigation tools, and unless you know exactly why you need one to set non-standard navigation in your project, you should always leave them “Not Set”.

August 18, 2006 at 8:00 pmHey, that’s the quickiest reply I’ve ever gotten here.
Thanks a lot.
I did it, but it hasn’t worked yet.
What if I do not create a timeline for my BG animation? What does it change? -

August 18, 2006 at 8:07 pmIf you plan on using a video asset as a menu BG, then it shouldn’t be put in a timeline. Just Alt+Drag the asset to the menu when the menu is active in the Menu Viewer.
What version of Encore are you using?

August 18, 2006 at 8:12 pmI’m using Encore 2.0
That’s what I did. Just Alt-drag.
I have no options for override and end action without a timiline.
I don’t understand it.
Why does it work so well in the preview, but not in the real disc? -

August 18, 2006 at 8:20 pmGo to the Basic tab in the menu’s property sheet in the Properties panel. You should see controls for both End Action and Override. End Action for a menu defaults to Stop and the Override defaults to “Not Set”.
[Reloaded] “Why does it work so well in the preview, but not in the real disc?”
Preview is at best an approximation of a finished disc. To fully test the functionality of your finished DVD, you should burn to an RW disc (no coasters) and test on a variety of software and hardware DVD players. Many DVD players have different features and different names for the same features, and so may react differently to the same disc.
