    Hi everyone…

I’ve bee having frequent render crashes in AE, and I remember solving this in the past by changing some setting so that AE purges its memory fairly frequently while rendering. I cannot seem to find this setting in CS3, if anyone has any suggestions I’d love to hear them.

    Thanks!

i think you’re looking for the secret pref…

hold the shift key (and mouse button on mac) while selecting affter effects>preferences>general. then choose ‘secret’ from the pref dropdown menu.

is that the pref you were looking for?

If you need to use the Secret menu to get your composition to render correctly, there may be some other issue preventing the engine from working correctly. You should look into the CS3 help files for some suggestions on how to optimize your comp for rendering. If that doesn’t help, you may want to look into technical support.

In the long run, using the Secret menu is bad – it hides symptoms that may get worse when you have money on the line.
