Can someone please help me, I dont know how to adjust the settings in memory/cashe preferences.

I have 4 gigs of ram but I cant get any decent RAM previews, or even render!
My footage is 640×480, has been spliced together and spead up. If I select the region to do a preview, even on half or third resolution, it will only preview for maybe a second or two before giving me a memory error and crashing After Effects. Im only trying to render a 4-5 minute video, exporting as a quicktime movie, MPEG-4 compression on medium setting. When I export it says insuffecient memory and stops the render.
I never used to have these issues before when I had 2 gigs of RAM and before rebuilding my computer. What should my memory settings be?

I have enabled the cashe memory option on my harddrive in hopes of getting longer previews or renders but it doesnt work.
    Any ideas or suggestions?

My system is a windows pc laptop (xp), 4 gigs of ram (though it only reads 3.25 because Im not on a 32-bit system…I think), Intel Core Duo processor and an NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS video card. Basically a powerful laptop gaming system.

I read the AE Help guide on memory/cashe and went back to the default settings. This atleast allowed me to render a short clip without crashing, but my previews are still horrible. Is there an easy way to determine the optimum memory/cashe settings for my computer?
