Hi guys. Am about to buy a iMac 5K with 4GHz processor and 1 TB SSD. I want to get memory upgrade from OWC. Want to bump up the stock memory to 32GB. Is there any difference between getting 2 x 16GB and 4 x 8GB? I’ll be running PrPro, FCP X, Motion, Resolve mainly:) A bit of AE too:)
Thanks for all the help, in advance:)

As long as you install the memory in matched pairs there is no performance difference as far as I know. But while the 16GB sticks are more expensive you would be able to keep your stock 4GB sticks in place for a total of 40GB (assuming your iMac is the latest and able to use 64GB). Adding the four 8GB sticks would force you to remove the two stock sticks, and if you ever want to max out your memory later (again, assuming 64GB max) it would be cheaper to go with 16GB sticks now and add two more later.
