Having an issue of cutting DVCPRO HD footage in FCP 5.0 on a G4 with os x 10.3.9. 2gig of memory, and didn’t have an issue three days ago. After waiting 20 minutes to load a 85meg project, I get a general error. Tried to open a sequence/clip in viewer, get “Low Memory”. This was off of 1gig originally, bought another gig of memory and it does the same thing. Activity monitor shows that near 750 megs of memory is being used (minus firefox) and 1.3 gigs of memory is “inactive” leaving only 25 megs of free memory available. Does anyone know how to allocate additional memory or is this something with my computer or do I just litterally need more RAM? What is with the “inactive” memory? Thank you all

how full is your scratch disk?
also a full main drive (less than 10% of the space available) causes memory errors in the version of the OS you are using.
