memory
Posted by Bruce Botts on August 25, 2013 at 1:30 pmtrying to install FC Pro HD onto a G5 with over 900 gigs of memory available and I get the error message that there’s not enough memory. I’m not sure how to address this.

August 27, 2013 at 1:32 amWhen you say 900gigs of memory that refers to drive capacity.. While that should be adequate the message likely refers to the amount of RAM in the machine.
I think the absolute minimum required for FCP is 2GiGs for working with HD and I think 4 GIGs if you are trying to work with uncompressed HD. (although not sure how that machine would handle those kind of files)
So checking out how much RAM you have would be my suggestion in the first instance.best wishes

August 27, 2013 at 1:42 pmWhich version of FCP are you trying to install? I don’t think you can install FCP version 6 or higher on a G5 computer. The G5 has IBM Power PC processors and the newer machines run in Intel chips.
