I want to create like a wierd depth of field where things melt into eachother as they get further away from the camera. how can I apply the median effect based on luminance?

I guess its abit like the compound blur in AE, but swapping a blur for a “median noise”.

Any ideas how I can do this in either AE or Shake, or both?

    Thanks

So, if I understand you correctly you don’t want to perform Median on the luma channel itself, but you want to use the luma to control the Median effect.

The only way I can think to (sort of) accomplish this in AE is to use a luma track matte above an adjustment layer with Median applied to it.
