Media100 8.2.2 under 10.4?

I bought a G5 for After Effects and MPEG-2 encoding (through the SDI breakout box), but I’m resigned to keeping my G4 Dual 1.25 until it blows up because I’m not about to spend $7,000 on the upgrade and/or throw out a great system that still works.

I spoke to M100/Optibase sales folks last week about this issue and I was told that their first priority was to get the HD product working on Tiger and that there was no testing being done on the M100i products currently. The person I spoke with could not say that they definitely will be testing M100i under Tiger and would not say that there definitely will be a Tiger version of 8.2.2, or whatever it would be called

Nah, I doubt they would bother with a old product.

I wonder if they will make the media100 software they’re developing compatible with the media100i boards?

The Media 100 HD supports both standard SD and HD video editing. It is an excellent SD editor.
In SD operation I can play up to 8 uncompressed video streams (layers). The software version supports all the features of the hardware version with the exception of I/O.

With the software build you can open all Media 100 i and Media 100 HD projects and perform all your editing functions. After editing the program you can export the program with the Media 100 i CODEC. This exported file can then be played back in 8.2 on the P6000 program.

The software version will never be able to directly support the P6000 hardware because of CPU performance limitations and the need to compress all video data prior to playing the video stream out of the P6000.
