Like many others, I am a recent convert from FCP7. I do appreciate being able to edit in native codecs, but there are two situations I am having trouble coming up with a workflow for. I shoot/edit a weekly show where the on-camera talent appears on camera for the open and the rest is VO. In FCP world, I would uncheck the video box when injesting for the clips I only need audio for. If I am copying the cards contents to my harddrive, I am keeping much more media than I really need, since I can’t see a way to selectively save audio/video separately.

Also, sometimes I am shooting with cards that have media still on them from another shooter and am unable to find out if I can reformat it before I shoot, so I simply add the new clips to the card. When I copy the card to my hard-drive I have to take the entire card, and can’t figure out how to delete the clips from the previous shoot once I have confirmation it has been backed up. I know in a perfect world I would have that info ahead of time, but unfortunately that is not a world I have control of here. Is there a way to delete select files from a card’s copied folder structure?

Lastly – slight topic change – I log a lot of my shots by time code out points, as I don’t know what take to save until it has occurred. I used to sort my media by TC out in FCP, but I don’t see that option in Premiere Pro CC or Prelude CC. Is it possible but I am not finding the option?

    Thanks –

Simply ingest your footage with Prelude, making sure to use the ‘Transcode’ option, transcoding to the type of audio file that you need.
