Media suddenly appears as green blocks on timeline

Okay…it turns out THAT didn’t work.

Although changing the plug-in folder’s name solved my MP4 rendering issue, it created a wholly new problem in rendering AVC Mpeg 2 files. I got an error message when launching a Vegas project indicating the streams could not be found; this got worse when I tried to add new Mpeg 2 files to the project, and video streams wouldn’t add at all.

I’ve changed the name of the plug-in folder back to its proper title, and my Mpeg 2 streams are fine. Of course, Mpeg 4 files are green blocks again.

Carl, this is a stab in the dark but what version of QuickTime are you using? I have 7.7.1 on my machine and mp4 files play fine in Pro 10, 11 and 12.
I’m asking because the latest version of QT player often seems to break something in Vegas. If you have QT Player set to auto update, I highly recommend disabling this option and stick with what works.

I’m running QuickTime 7.7.4.

Another detail: Some of my MP4s are decoding properly. But ones that I have rendered out of Adobe Captivate screen captures no longer are (although they did previously).

Well, I spoke too soon. The rendered video file is not 3D. I have reverted to out-of-the box settings and tried again. After burning the ISO and playing on a Playstation 3, the media does get recognized as MVC, but the video is still in 2D. Should I revert back to an earlier version of Vegas? Has anyone tried creating 3D Bluray with 770 and succeeded?
