    Hello,

I have recently had a HD crash and have managed to save most of my clients media.

However, There is some audio that I cannot reconnect, and I cannot find it on any of my remaining back-ups or scratch disks. The audio is highlighted in white and the reveal in the finder option does not work.

The media plays fine in the timeline and I’m wondering why?? Does this mean there is a copy somewhere in a Cache that I could possibly use?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Thanking You,

    Joseph

The audio that is playing in the time line is probably part of a render file.

Go into the folder where your renders are kept and do some investigating. Don’t move or delete anything until you have identified the files that can help in your recovery.

When you do ID files that you would like to keep, write down their names and a description on a piece of paper.

When you are done, create a new folder within your normal organization scheme, and then Option drag the files you want to use for your recovery from the render folder to the new folder. This will copy the files, leaving the originals where they were.

Now use your paper notes to rename the copies appropriately before you import them into your project.

    Good luck.

    Thank you very much Tom,

The method of extracting the audio worked a treat!!!!

I’m very happy and cannot praise the COW enough.

I love being a part of this community.

I’ll most likely need some more guidance in the not to distant future . . . All the best.
