Media Replace a 2 Channel Audio Clip With 5.1

What is the source high-res clip? I know I’ve seen all kinds of odd audio-channel things happen with DVD-Video disc ripped MPEG-2 files, including (but not limited to): stereo being mixed up with 5.1, language tracks being interpreted as 5.1, 5.1 tracks being buried under other tracks, hundreds of millisecond sync issues, etc.. It varies depending on the ripped disc, so part of the issue might be Vegas, but part is certainly how the discs were created (some of the strangest problems have been with really old DVDs or discs from Bollywood musicals!)

Sorry I don’t have a better answer, but let us know the source and someone may have a more specific answer.

The source was a blu-ray 1080p m2ts file. Using tsMuxer to strip away all but the video and english ac3 5.1. Put the newly created 1080p m2ts on the timeline with the 5.1 (multiple channel) and created a low res mpg1 file 2 channel as the proxy.

I use the newly created mpg1 file on the timeline to edit and subsequently attempted to replace the proxy with the tsMuxer’s high res 1080p that contains the multiple channel audio and only 2 channels will be replaced. I can’t get all of the 5.1 audio to appear.

I see: Does the source MTS file come in normally with 5.1 channels? That’ll at least narrow the problem down to “Doesn’t work at all” vs. “It’s a proxy/replace file issue.”

I suspect I will have to create a proxy file with all the audio tracks but it can’t be done with an mpg1. It will have to be a low res avc with aac 5.1. The only thing is I can’t seem to be able to match the source frame rate of 23.976 in Vegas 9b. It gets goofy that way.
