media randomly goes offline
Can’t seem to find any answers in the forums to this \ bizarre problem…
I have a project where the video media will go offline after 2-5 minutes of editing, even though I haven’t touched the footage or drives. When I select a video clip, and try to relink, I find that the link media option is greyed out. I can make it offline, but when I reconnect, it stays offline. The weirdest thing is when I shut down CC, and relaunch the project, everything is connected for 2-5 minutes. Runs like a charm. Then, bam, media offline. Every time.
It’s not a loose cable. I tried reinstalling Premiere. I tried repairing my disc permissions. Can’t seem to find a fix to this issue, short of reimporting and re-editing.
I’m running Premiere Pro CC v8 on an iMac 2.7 i5 with v10.7.5

Have you tried deleting your render/preview files & media cache files?

No, I haven’t. But instead, I went back to one of my autosave projects, and it seems to working fine. At any rate, thanks for the tip. Ken If it happens again with this project file, I’ll give that a try, just to see.

Reminds me of a similar problem I had a couple of years ago with an external drive. The cable was fine as you say it is with yours, but the culprit turned out to be the AC power adaptor brick was failing. I only found this out by exchanging the brick with another of the same from a second drive. Ordered a replacement and I was good to go.
