  • Media Offline!!?? Help ASAP!…I think I’m going to throw up!

    Hi all,..

I’m in a panic…I’ve just finished my edit for this piece I’m doing. I decided to go into where my Capture folder is and delete some Quicktime files to save space,..meaning I deleted the unused files that were imported NOT the ones I used in my timeline and so on. I also named the Quicktime files cause they were all called Untitled14 and so on while I was at it.

Now here’s my problem..when I went back into FCP…the red/black screen comes up and says “Media Offline” with the “Untitled14” underneath it and now I can’t see ANY footage played back. The audio’s there but no picture.

What can I do to fix this??? I’m desperate and feel physically sick. I need to fix this ASAP.

    HELP PLEASE!!

Well, renaming the footage was what caused this. Don’t do that…you need to do this AS you capture, thus the HUGE need for LOGGING AND CAPTURING. OR, if you capture now, then name the clip before you capture it.

What you need to do is MANUALLY connect these files. If you know what you renamed UNTITLED 14 as, then you can connect it by unchecking MATCHED NAMES ONLY. DO this for all of them. If you have no idea what you renamed them as…then you are stuck having to compare the durations and trying it that way.

Sorry man. This was not the best thing to do…as you found out.
