I’m getting the “Media Missing in Livetype File” error in a new FCP project, importing from an old one. When I “Open in Editor”, the file opens fine and all of my text is there. Regardless of whether I save with the same filename, or save as a new name and re-import into FCP, I still end up with the same error message.

Cleaning up after my last project where this title was used, I reorganized all of my media into a new folder for archiving. However…the file has not been modified in any way since. Reconnecting media, however, does not help either.

Anyone know why this is occurring?

    Thanks,

    Steven

When you originally made the files, did you have anything in the Background? like a still or a clip for reference?

The error message refers to elements you used in livetype that are not type, such as a still or clip on the Background layer

When you open in editor ie live type, relink the Background media or delete the Background Clip, then save.

once you re render the livetype clip in FCP you should be fine

    hope this helps

Brilliant! Yes…there was a background layer (though it was empty) that, when deleted, fixed the file. Makes sense…but wouldn’t have occurred to me.

    Thanks so much.
