Media manager is giving me fits and I am wondering if anyone else has this problem or has figured out a good way to deal with it. Here is what is happening.

I am sending my two hour documentary to another editor for input. To do this, I selected my current timelines and used the media manager to COPY the media to a firewire drive. Before I sent it to him, I wanted to test the project and be sure everything would link up. I disconnected from my drives, making sure the only copy of the media was on the firewire drive. When I opened the project, media manager connected to about half my media with no problem. I was puzzled so I selected five clips that were still offline, and tried to connect. I was able to connect to the first clip in the list, but then the list would clear as though there were no more clips to connect. When I checked my timeline, I found only one clip connected.

With some more testing I have found that this keeps happening. Media manager will only connect to one clip at a time. If I want those five clips online, I am having to reconnect each one separately. Of course this is causing me great pain (there are 1800 clips), pain I hope someone has found a cure or solution for.

Christian, have you found anything that helps? I have tried it on two different computers here, and was tempted to try to try an older version of FCP using an XML.

Tried with an XML on another computer. Same problem. I just reconnected them manually, boring but now it works. I can make em offline, move them and still reconnect. Weird. I put the reconnect command to a keyboard shortcut. I guess you could script a macro that would do it automatically. It took me 20 minutes…
