Media Manager: Clips go missing
There was a thread posted about this back in February, but there doesn’t seem to have been a solution so I am reposting.
Here is the original thread.
https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/8/974635My situation:
I edit segments on FCP for a 30 minute show.
These segments have many speed adjusted clips.
When I am finished with the segment, I media manage it and hand it off to another editor with another machine who edits all the segments together into a 30 minute show.
When I media manage the segments, the new project frequently has holes in the timeline where the speed adjusted clips were. The render files are there so it looks fine if you play the sequence in the timeline.
But if the new editor makes a change to the sequence, the render file is lost and so is the clip. If you roll the edges of the clip, the media is still there, but the in and out points are way off and the speed rate is different.I have been exporting QT conversions of the clips and importing them into the media managed sequence as a workaround, but this is very time consuming and counterproductive.
We updated to FCP 6.0.4 a few months ago and this stared happening.
We didn’t have this problem in version 5.Here are my MM settings:
Copy media referred by duplicates items
include render files
DO NOT include master clips outside selection
(because some of my projects have 30 minutes of unused b-roll)
Delete unused media from duplicated items
Used handles 2 seconds
Include affiliated clips
Base media file names on clip names
Duplicate selected items and place into new project.
Include nonactive multiclip anglesBoth systems are Mac OSX 10.4.11
Dual 2GHz Power PC G5Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
