Media Import – nothing showing up
I currently have a trial version of Vegas Studio 9.0 trial version. A crisis I have gotten every time is when I try to import videos, or media of any kind into a project. Nothing whatsoever works, even though it should do.
Let me explain it in more depth.
I open up sony vegas, and have made a new project.
The large white rectangle has the folders that contain the media inside of them, but whenever I click them, I just get a blank screen. Now I know the format that I use is right, because my friends use the same format and it works.
Now when I click ‘import media’ the usual menu comes up. Nothing wrong there. but when I click on a video or a song to import it, it comes up with a message:
‘Warning: An error occurred while opening one or more files. The file is an unsupported format.’I have tried this with three formats.
.flv .wmv and ipod. This message came up all times, as well as with .mp3 format for songs.Can someone help me out, please?

Does your friend also use the trial version? It may be a trial limitation due to licensing of some format types.

I can guarantee you that your friend has never dropped a .flv file into Vegas and gotten it to work because Vegas does not support .flv files. WMV should work as should MP3 but “ipod” is not a format, it’s a device that accepts several formats. If you mean files purchased on iTunes they do not work because of Apples copy protection.
I agree that it is strange the WMV and MP3 don’t work. You may have other software on your PC that is causing a conflict. Especially if you’ve downloaded any of the mega-codec packages that are floating around the internet and have tons of codecs in them. This is a sure fire way to mess up your PC. I’m not sure what else could be the problem.
