Media Grid anybody?
Anybody have experience with Media Grid especially with live ingest and growing files?
The pluses are it does scale well and is purpose built for video workflows. It does use a custom filesystem driver but there is no cost per client.
Minuses are there is no chassis redundancy and each chassis is 5 RAID4 2+1 sets, so 16 1TB drives would only yield 10TB. Without chassis redundancy I’d expect replacing old chassises would be difficult.

I take it that you have a LOT of money to be looking at Harmonic/Omneon products. Correct ?
