Media goes offline when project left for a week
Hi folks,
So – I’ve got a bit of a history of ranting about problems I have in FCP, so I’ll calm down a bit this time.
A week and a half ago, I did a long edit for a very big corporate company – which then went out for review. The changes are today, and I just jumped back into the project to carry on working on it to find that 70% of the media was offline! The render files were there for all the grading and effects I put onto the programme, but the source clips are all offline in the browser.
Sure, I spent half an hour going through all the bins (there’s about 15 bins filled with clips) and foruntately, it let me reconnect everything, but – I now have to re-render the entire sequence again (which is currently about an hour to do).
Does anyone have any idea whatsoever why this keeps happening? Over and over again, I’ll work on a project, send it out for review, come back to it, and find everything’s gone offline. Sometimes, I’m not as lucky as this morning, and it won’t even let me reconnect to the original clips – now that DOES leave me ranting like a lunatic.
If there’s a quick fix to make it find everything, and including the render files, or if there’s a way to make this not happen, I’d love to know about it.
(My sig says I’m runing 5.02 – I’ve upgraded to .04 – but I’ve not upgraded my sig yet.)
