  Media Encoder CS 5.5 transcoding slow

  I am trying to transcode avi. files to h.264 format so I can put movies onto an ipod. I am using an ipod preset within media encoder to transcode.

  My problem lies with the speed at which it is transcoding. It takes several minutes to begin the transcode, and when it eventually does it is transcoding at very slow speeds. I have noticed that it is only using max of 15% of the CPU.

  My system is:

  8gb ram
  i7 2720 2.2Ghz
  nvidia GT 540M

  How do I make transcoding faster and allow my PC to use all of the CPU?
