Media Drive locations
Setting up some new Media Composer 5.x stuff and looking to “encapsulate” projects & media into one folder at creation. What I am after is:
z:\
MyFolder
AvidProject1
AvidProject1
Statistics
AvidProject1 Settings.avs
AvidProject1.avp
AvidProject1 MyBin.avb
Avid MediaFiles
MXF
1
MyMediaFile1.mxf
MyMediaFile2.mxfNote the combination of what Avid calls “project folder” and “media folder” into an overlying “job folder”.
The only thing I can see keeping this from being reality is that when importing materials, the Avid seems to allow *only* selection of a drive letter (windows) and not a drive letter/path (or UNC folder/filename). I’ve seen that some users have resorted to using the dos subst command or some such utility to map local folders to a drive letter, but this is not acceptable to me a a solution because it requires leaving the MC application in order to properly change projects.
Is there another way of forcing MC to import to a user-provided folder that does not have to exist at the root of a drive letter?
