the new imac is very simular in specs to the macbook pro (wich is avid approved). Would media composer run on the new imac with 512 vid card intel duo core 3.06 4 gigs of ram?

Should run fine. You may be limited in terms of external peripherals as a mojo will conflict with any other fw device like storage. However, that said the i dont know if this limitation applies to using the fw 400 and 800 ports. But software-wise you should be fine, as i have run MC soft on my imac at home which is lower spec (1st generation intel 17″).

    thanks Dan,

I’m not planing on ever getting a mojo, but my concern was compatibility with the video card in the new imac, i think its an Nvidia card, and weather that will run with avid.

The problem you might run into is that you might want to capture to an external drive.

If you attach an external drive, you’ll likely have capture problems (you really need to plug in your drives to a different bus – not to just another firewire port.)

The MBP has the express card slot – so you could use either SATA or another firewire card.
