Avid wasn’t going to do mixed frame rates unless they could do it correctly. This means when you play out a 23.98 clip in a 30 frame timeline it won’t come out 2:2:2:4 like another package we know of.

And when you put a 30 frame clip in a 24 frame timeline, it doesn’t just drop every 5th frame.

I’ve been dropping 30p footage in a 24p project with MC4.02. The resulting output footage is buttery smotth. Avid did an excellent job, here.

Just upgraded today from MC3.5. SD projects work fine, but P2 720PN projects giving me ‘access violation’ error. I see the media in the bin, but won’t play in the timeline

access violations like that are usually caused by permissions errors on the media files.

If you se it in the timeline, then you don’t need to relink.

What happens if you load one clip in the source window and try to play?

audio plays, but video stays on first frame. After 10 seconds, error message pops up
