I am just looking to get some feedback. First off, I am not a professional, just a hobbies that do family event travel, etc. I have Demo both packages for 4K workflow each have the strength and weakness. I like MC color correction tools better than Premiere but audio, and effects I am kind of up in the air on both. I can only purchase one. For Premiere I am only purchasing the editing software, if need to add plugin I purchase later I can’t see my self purchasing almost six hundred dollars a year for the suite.
    Suggestions feedback most welcome.

I for one see value in learning both.
But I think it all depends on what you want to get out of it.
If you are a budding editor that wants to head to the bigger markets then I suggest Avid first the rest later.
I am finding it all depends on your environment IMHO.
I use all three and plan on teaching Resolve at local college heavy on the editing side of things.

Oh and as far as audio in either of the two, I found way more issues on the Adobe side but thats on the Mac.
I’ve had the pleasure of assisting on a feature using an HP Z840/Avid but we all can’t be that lucky.
That beast can spit out 4K/5K like butter.

    Thanks, Eric.
For some reason, my computer is having difficulty with Resolve on 4K footage. On MC I transcode to DNXHR and it runs very smooth, MC also runs better than premiere .

Will you need to go back to projects at some point? I’ve opened and worked on 15 year old Avid projects in current version. I have clients who can’t open a 5 year old premiere project.

[Kenneth Maultsby] “For some reason, my computer is having difficulty with Resolve on 4K footage. “

    Now, that’s a different issue.
My experience with Resolve on the PC is on same HP Z840.
I have never tried it on anything less.
And yes its like butter on that system.
With Resolve, you have to deal with GPU.
So I can’t say for sure how other video cards fair.
The HP has an NVIDIA (can’t recall but it wasn’t cheap).
