Media Cache (scratch disk) and different setups for the same computer.
Hi, fist post here after years of lurking.
I use After Effects often to create product demos.
To improve performance (and to save space on the small startup drive) as I do for other Adobe Software I always specify an external scratch disk (an SSD these days) for Media Cache.Now, this generally worked fine on my desktop Mac. But now I switched to a laptop as my main (and only) machine.
So I will have a set of external drives attached when I’m working from home, another set when on the go or in the office.Is it possible to set up After Effects to different options for scratch disks?
Like, use either drive A or B when one or the other is not present?I don’t mind it having to rebuild the cache everytime I swap locations.
I just don’t want to have to reset it everytime from the preferences.This question in reality applies to most Adobe apps that use scratch disks.

If you have both of the hard drives mapped to the same drive letter, it could work. I’d say give it a try.

Hi Michael, sorry using letters to name the drives might have created confusion (should have used XX and YY ☺ ).
I’m on a Mac. Also the drives are not used uniquely as scratch disks.
