I’m currently setting up an expanded edit suite. Simple setup. Mac Pro with 2 internal disks and an external 4 disk RAID 5 setup. As I’m revisiting our storage solution, and particularly our media hierarchy and folder organization, I’m running into the issue of the Media Cache folders’ location. My inclination has always been to have these folders attached to the project in question, so we’d have a separate cache folder for all of our individual projects. But it seems that’s not the way Premiere (or After Effects for that matter) wants you to handle it.

It’s a similar issue to the one addressed here: https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/3/910969

What have you done in this situation, particularly those of you with similar setups? Where do your media cache folders live, and if you feel like going into it, it would be helpful to hear how you organize your preview folders and project folders, etc., based on how Premiere Pro and After Effects behave. Thanks for any suggestions!

I always set it to “same as project.”

But I hear what your saying about it.

yesterday I made an .omf and noticed it was going through
the cache folder on my system disk…that I don’t like.

any issues I’m having now, I’m just dealing with
, with the hope that cs 6 will address it.
