I just bought a 17″ 1.5GHZ powerbook with 1GB RAM It’s got OSX 10.3.9 loaded in it. If I were to download Media 100 SW to that powerbook, could I edit my media 100 programs created on my G4 system on that powerbook? My thought is that I could save my program and bins on a firewire drive, and take that drive with me along with my powerbook. Then finish editing on the powerbook, and transfer the project back to my G$ for output to Beta SP. Would this workflow work? I’d be grateful for any response here. Thanks so much.

this is pretty much hat i have done on the road with SW but please remember to copy your bins, programs and project before working on them.

Dont work on the originals. Once SW opens it they will not be able to be re-opened in stdrd M100 – Do you have i or HD?

Your Media 100i system will not be able to play a program created on Media 100 sw, but the QuickTime media exported from Media 100 SW will be able to be imported and played out to tape
    on Media 100i.

So make an Uncompressed movie or similar onto firewire and take back to the Stndrd M100

If you capture your material with timecode then you will also be able to output an EDL from Media 100 sw to recapture your materials

Thanks John… I have i So what you’re saying is copy bins program and projects, save them on firewire drive then open them in media 100sw? Then when done import that file to media 100i and output to tape? Will there be any dropped frames? any other issues?

Same powerbook as Greg except 10.4.2.
Media 100 sw does not play realtime at all on my machine. Using LaCie 500 extreme with lossless or 360 media / PAL.

I have been able to play 80kb draft with SW on my 12″ G4 powerbook with 1.25g ram, Lacie Porche firewire 400 drive. Just have not tried higher data rates. I exported as an edl and then conformed on our Media100 HD quite successfully. Like posted above, if you are working on Media100i as your main system, you should only work with coppies of your bins and programes just incase you need to go back to Media100i with them.
