Media 100 LE System Key Issue after Upgrading Macs and M100 software
Hi Everyone,
I’m a newcomer to Creative Cow, and the first time I’ve joined a forum.
You may get a laugh about the Mac upgrade…I don’t know if any one could assist me, but I still have a 1996 Media
100 LE system (Version 5.5) that was working on a PPC8500 running OS
9.2 until it died recently. I purchased a 2003 G4 MDD from ebay with
Dual 1.25Ghz processors running OS 9.2, and transferred the Vincent
601 and SCSI cards into the G4, had to buy an “iMate” ADB to USB
adapter for the M100 Dongle. After installing the software and
opening M100, the G4 froze. I ran the M100 Ver 5.5 Test for the
hardware, it kept failing through the sequences of tests (software
Not compatible on G4) After some research on the net, I came across
the Media 100 Facebook site with Andrew Mehta sharing a link to the
Media 100i Tune Up for OS 9 and OSX. I downloaded the software and
ran the M100 Test, the Vincent card was recognised and passed all
tests. I installed and opened the M100 Ver 7.5.1 application for
OS9, entered my details and the System Key Number, and a dialogue
window came up the screen saying,“The System Key is invalid. Please enter the Media 100 System Key received
with your latest version of software”.The System Key I have must only be for Ver 5.5, the Firmware has been
updated to 7.5.1, and now I can’t capture video using the Vincent
card, and can’t downgrade back to ver 5.5.I wanted to ask if any experienced users have a solution for the System
Key issue, or will I need to throw my Vincent card in the trash? I’d
like to try and finish archiving some Hi8 footage from years gone by,
but don’t like my chances now.Hoping someone in this forum can shed some light on the above. Thanks for
your time.Cheers,
David
