We just purchased a new Intel Xserve. It is running Quicktime 7.5.0 and has Pro activated. Downloaded the Intel Media 100 codec and installed. Quicktime shows a black screen when playing version 8 and 12 Media 100 files. Any thoughts?

    Hmmm…

Did you log out and back in to the OS? Restarting covers that.

Other than that, are you SURE you downloaded the Intel-friendly version of the codec? Did you already have the PPC-only one installed first? Maybe it didn’t get overwritten by the new one.

Sorry that it sounds like I’m taking shots in the dark, but I am. This just shouldn’t be happening the way you’ve laid it out.

Another idea… Sometimes creating a new user account and trying under the new account “fixes” problems like this.

Thanks for the shot. Tried updating Quicktime, downloading m100 codec again and reinstalling, updating the server OS. Nothing. Finally did a Hail Mary and installed a copy of the codec installer that I had archieved. Worked. Go figure. Thanks again.
