We’re still in the process of trying to author DVDs from programs cut on our Media 100i systems (compressing reference files with Apple Compressor), and the process has been nothing short of a nightmare.

Just when I think we have the strobe-like effect taken care of (top first field dominance seems to be working), DVD Studio Pro decides to crash each and every time we build a DVD. I’ve tried restarting, getting rid of the previous TS and PAR files, and building to different drives, but nothing seems to work.

Is anyone out there successfully doing this from Media 100, or is everyone doing DVDs from Final Cut now?

I hope we’re missing the magic key somehow.

I have had great success exporting from M100 as a ref movie and then encoding in Bit Vice. Most people agree that this is a much better encoder than compressor. Then import the encoded file into DVD Studio Pro to author your DVD. HTH

Yup, have authored LOTS of DVDs via M100 > export as ref > Bitvice – check interlaced and luminamce correction > DVDSP, and never had a problem.

Gotta get Bitvice – https://www.innobits.se/. An essential investment if you’re making DVDs out of M100

    Tom,
What are you building the MPEG 2 files in? Are you using A Pack for audio compression of your wav file? What settings in A Pack if so?

I have had good results using Quicktime Pro.
Maybe you could try reinstalling DVDSP. Seems like I had to to that once last year.

    check interlaced and luminamce correction

I check interlaced input and Studio RGB but why do I need to check luma correction in bitvice?

Studio RGB is what I meant, not Lumincance. Sorry ’bout that.
