Which of these is more reliable? The sony one costs twice as much.

Currently using a Kensington Adapter and Transcend Cards (which continue to use with adapter). But sometimes the card will fail. Footage is fine, but this worries me!

Well Creative Video recommend the MxR over the Sony MEAD one. Strange. They get a lot less issues.

The question is, better than Kensington adapter?

Go with the MxR..I have 2 of them, not one problem in 2 years. Sony is always over priced.

Cannot believe you guys. You spend six grand on cameras, tripods, mics etc etc yet try to save a little on cards, the one item that in the event of failure makes all the rest of the stuff useless. You’re lucky, once you have good cards (Sony S X S) they can be used time and time again with no worries. In the old days we had 16mm film rattling through the camera, costing hundreds and used just the once!

and what is wrong with saving a “little” money…if it works, it works. I have not lost any video files since I started using them, and the clients are happy. final

Totally agree. SxS cards are sooooo expensive compared to an alternative which is ‘as reliable’ by any standard (meaning those that use it haven’t had a failure as far as I have scoped out).

To match the number of cards I have with SxS cards would cost half the camera cost again. £3k I reckon.

I use SxS for paying jobs as if there was a problem with MxR adapter and Transcend cards then it would not be fair on the client. Having said that I have used the adapter system on some of my own productions since getting an EX1 back in February 2008 without incident.
