    Hi there-

Ive been a FCP 7 user for many years and need to jump ship to Media Composer for an upcoming job so I need to get some practice in. I went to purchase a copy of MC and saw there is a new version out. Can anyone shed some light on the differences between MC7 and MC8 (aside from the subscription they now offer)? Anything new with the interface? Bugs from 7 corrected in 8? Your thoughts/opinions are appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

As far as I know MC 7 and MC 8 are identical in terms of features as of now. The only difference being that MC 8 is part of the new subscription model where as MC 7 is not. Presumably MC 8 will get new features over the next 12 months where as MC 7 will not.

Interestingly the working version of MC is currently 7.0.3. Stay away from MC 8 right now.

MC 8 is basically version 7.0.4, which on the Mac side is qualified for OS X 10.9.2. I’m running 8.0 on a new Mac Pro 2013 and had no crashes/problems until now. I’ve purchased MC 8 on a rental basis though.
