MC5 & 2.8GHz octocore
Hi,
Is anyone running MC 5 successfully on a macpro with the dual quad 2.8GHz processors? (Early 2008 harpertown model I think). Looking on AVID’s website they show the 3.0 & 3.2GHz as qualified but no mention of the 2.8.

The 2.8 is the earlier model. I would anticipate it should work fine. However, things like multiformat editing and AVC-intra may make the machine perform poorly.

I’m running a dual quad 2.8GHz processor, and it works great. I did cut a doc shot with the 7D and ran some tests with AMA. It was just a little sticky. Not sure how smoothly it plays on the recommendations, so I can’t compare. Had the project not been a feature I probably would have run with it, instead I transcoded to 175, but ran beautifully.

I have the same machine and works fine and smooth, not performance relevants differences in front an actual MacPro.
