Purchasers of academic version of MC4 get all upgrades free four four years. I can’t find anything on the Avid site or elsewhere describing the upgrade policy for those of us who pay the full freight.

Has anybody turned our the upgrade information?

    Thanks Terrance.

But what about the upgrade policy for next 4 years- is it the same as for the academic version. I can’t find anything about follow-on upgrades anywhere on the web. That’s my question.

The education policy is to get you on the system through school. That doesn’t apply to the regular upgrades. Every point upgrade has a charge unless you are on Avid assurance.

If they didn’t do this, how would they pay for the engineers to write new code?

As far as how much it will cost, Avid couldn’t tell you even if they knew. I believe that might affect how they can report profits, etc.

And in reality, I’m fairly certain that none of the corporations out there could tell you what they are going to charge for anything 4 years form now.
