Obviously it is possible to export (to an SxS card) a finished HD sequence from FCP as an MP4 file that can be played out from the EX series cameras – but not from Avid. Has anyone found a way to do this?

Not exactly, Michael – that would be to output to XDCam, not XDCam EX.
