    Hi

I’d like to upgrade to MC v3 from my current XpressPro 5.7 with Studio Toolkit and Mojo nonSDI. I’m running this on an HP NW9440 laptop. The laptop was an approved system for XpressPro but according to Avid it is not supported for MC v3. Should I look for MC 2.8? Is that version even available?

I don’t have a service contract on the system. I’m aware of the nebulous area we all get into with ‘non supported’ systems. Has anyone out there upgraded to MC 3.0 from Xpress Pro on the HP laptop? What problems might I get into since the system used to be supported?

System details: HP NW 9440. XP Pro, Svc Pack 2. Intel 2 Core Duo, T2500. nVidia Quadro FX 1500m. 2 gigs Ram.

Thanks in advance for your advice and help

    David

I can’t guarantee this, but I bet MC 3.0 will run on your laptop. It won’t be as fast as the newer approved machines, but I bet it will run.

If it doesn’t, you can just go to the Avid website and download the 2.8 installer and install that. Once you blast your dongle for MC 3.0 it will be backwards compatible, so rolling back to an earlier version of MC won’t be an issue.

Either way, I suggest upgrading to Media Composer as soon as you can. It’s much, much better than Xpress Pro.

    Michael.
