Our school has recently converted to Media Composer from Xpress Pro for student workstations. We’ve used JVC BR-DV3000 decks and everything has worked fine, even though they are on the approved Avid deck list. We have also used JVC SR-VS30 combo DV/VHS decks. There have been some Firewire conflict problems and of course the decks have a more consumer feel and operation, but we’ve managed to get by, especially since they are half the price (budget limitations). However, when we started capturing into Media Composer, we got audio dropouts from the VS30, but the video was ok. The BR-DV3000 worked fine. And the SR-VS30 is on the approved deck list and is in the dropdown menu in the capture window. We hate to spend another $4500 on 3 new decks when we will probably go to Firestore for our cameras in the future. Any suggestions?
