MBE Analog A / V inputs not functioning. DVI-D is gone too.
Hey Kristian or whomever from black magic is reading this,
(I’m also going to email support)A few weeks ago it began with the hardware downconversion
output on sdi channel-b stopped working, it only shows a snowy picture.
Only the software downconversion works.Today
SDI Input/Output Audio/Video monitoring on an SDI Monitor works.Analog composite & component Input on video and audio
is not functioning. just stopped working today.If I set it for SDI video and xlr analog audio it will
pass the analog audio through to final cut pro.DVI-D monitoring does not work in HD or SD (screen is black)
Dell flat panel is getting a signal though
as the led is green not amber.I have upgraded to the latest black-magic drivers and firmware
from the website just now.Have tried power cycling several times and left it off for awhile.
One thing of note, after upgrading the firmware the hardware downconversion output of channel-b started working again. It didn’t fix anything else though.
I need the composite video and audio inputs working asap for a huge job on monday with loads of fun vhs footage to capture friday.
Any suggestions or does it sound like the unit has gone south?

Just an update to let you know that DVI-D is working
in SD and HD after having the unit off awhile.But the Analog Audio and Video options seem to
be completely dead. -

One of our engineers will call you tomorrow and find out what’s going wrong and whether it is a faulty unit. I’ve sent them the general phone number from your web site.

I got the call, we went over the settings then he
told me to put the composite input into the Y bnc of the component input.I thought that was weird because Since January of this year, the composite input has ALWAYS been hooked up to the NTSC/PAL Ref input. I remember talking to somebody on this forum from blackmagic and they clearly stated that the ref in and the composite in were the same connector. So i normaled blackburst into it and when I input a composite cable on the router it would override the blackburst with the composite signal.
That had worked for all of this year beginning in january until a week ago.
then suddenly it stops working and with a firmware update and changing it from the ntsc/ref in to component Y in its working.That is VERY strange.
But I’m glad it works and our MBE is ok.

I’m glad that Dave was able to help you resolve this mystery and the Multibridge Extreme is OK. Some time this year, I don’t exactly remember when, there was a change in the firmware and we updated the Readme file with the following brief note:
The “SYNC IN” analog port should be used for sync/genlock input only. Composite video input should be connected to the “Y In” Then select composite input in the DeckLink system preferences
That note almost at the end of the Readme file so I’m not surprised that you had not seen it. Hopefully it will all work smoothly from now on 🙂
