    Hi!

I´m working on a TV-series where 5 of the shows are pre-produced and the other 6 are going to be sent live from a broadcast studio.

On the preproduced episodes we´ve basicly been using Magic Bullet Looks 1.0 for Color Correction (in Avid).

Now we want to use the same look for Live TV. This require that we somehow can convert the Magic bullet looks setting into a TARGA or other Still-picture with alpha.

    How can this be done?

both in After Effects and Avid I can not add Magic Bullet filter to anything that is transparent- how can I then create a alpha/transparent-based filter as an image?

We go live tomorrow. sorry for the rush, thanks for any help!

I don’t think this is possible at all. The way I understand it, the Magic Bullet plugin takes the information from the pixels of your footage and alters it according to what the effect is set to. You’ll need a live color correction system to do this, and I don’t know that there is one. There’s no alpha to export because the effect is dependent on the actual footage you’re captured–and it can’t run live.

I guess you could do some tests with your cameras and adjust them to mimic the look, but if you go live tomorrow–I wouldn’t even dare. You would need to ensure these settings will work for every lighting situation you’ll shoot in, and there’s too much that can go wrong with a live event. That’s why it’s called color correction–you fix what you capture to tape.

Sorry, but I really don’t think what you’re wanting to do is possible.

    Michael
