For some reason when I bake the camera in Maya and import the .ma file into AE, the frame rate of my two comps (squared and nonsquared) come in at 24fps.. The tiff sequence that I exported from Maya is 29.97 so the tif doesn’t sync to the camera. The only workaround that I have found has been to change the frame rate of my tif sequence to 24. Then everything locks perfectly. Is there a way to get Maya to export a 29.97 tif sequence or AE to recognize it properly?

I really think Maya was set to 24. Maya’s frame rate is not so straight forward. It’s been a couple years since using Maya so I’m foggy, but I believe it’s under the “standards” setting or something similar in the prefs. You’ll have to improvise. But it’s not just a quick click on export.

You can make a Playblast to Quicktime and look at the framerate of it in the Quicktime Player.

For whatever reason, Maya defaults to 24fps. In Maya, go to: Settings/Preferences>Preferences

In “Settings”, find “Working Units” and change the ‘Time’ setting from “Film 24 fps” to your appropriate standard, NTSC or PAL.

Chris.. thanks!!! that did it.. strange that such an important setting would be hidden in the prefs?!
