Maximizing AE to dual monitors

If you don’t care about the seam between screens, un-maximize Ae (click the RestoreDown button or use the keyboard shortcut Win-DownArrow) and just drag the edge of the Ae frame across both screens.

If you want Ae to treat them as separate areas:

Maximize Ae on a single screen with Windows (either click the maximize button or use Win-UpArrow).

Tear off a panel (timeline, composition viewer, whatever) to the second monitor.

Use the Ae shortcut Ctrl-Backslash to maximize the panel.

Drag any other panels you’d like into the new, maximized, full-screen window.

You can just drag any panel in the second monitor- click on the tab at the top and position where you want it. You can create you own custom setup. To combine panels drag and drop over to have all panels stacked with tabs at the top or go to any of the edges until you get a blue highlight to obtain a split window.

Thanks for the tips, but a very important item I left out in original post was that I know how to maximize AE to both monitors “manually”. What I want to do is have AE maximize automatically upon boot.

Once you setup the interface as you like it, AE should always open with the same setup for every new project and for all projects that you have saved using the new interface setup. However, older projects will open with the setup that was used when the last save was done.

You just need to save it in the system when you’ve set it up.

Window > Workspace > New Workspace

Name it (“maximized setup” etc) – then set it all up how you want it to be.

Now whenever you open AE just choose that workspace from the list. If you open an old project or one by someone else, once open you click the workspace name and everything will be-jigged to how you want it.

I also can’t maximize my frame.
When I create a second comp viewer for my second screen the maximize frame option is gray and I can’t click it.
Does anyone know why?
