Max out eMac RAM
I have a 1.25GHz eMac with a 512MB & a 256MB RAM chip. I’ve read that it max’s out at 1GB, which means that I can only replace the 256MB chip with a 512MB chip. I’ve found compatible 1GB chips. How much RAM can I put into the 2 slots to get the most out of it? I’m looking to use it with FCP 6 & DVD SP 4.

Looks like you have the 2004 eMac. Double check this page to make sure I got that right:

Just double-checking. But if so, all that confirms is that you’re correct. You can only use two 512 chips in that machine. Anything more will not be recognized by the system.

It just may be time to get a new system. It’s been a good back-up unit for FCP 5. Except for the speed issue and the fact that it can’t run Motion and other Studio2 programs, it’s working fine.
