Matte / Remove blurred pixels
Is there any known technique where I can detect and separate out-of-focus background and in focus subject?
For example in this portrait shot the background is very obviously blurred.

I’d like to remove that background and isolate the model, without having to apply a mask to every frame. I realize there’s probably no perfect solution, but I’m hoping something can get me in the ball park.

Not exactly an After Effects solution, but Photoshop has “select by focus”.

Perhaps a batch and a cleanup afterwards in AE?
Have you already tried rotobrush?
