I can’t believe I’m such a newbie to the system I have to ask this question but here goes. I have the Editor’s Toolkit and will bring in the matte and foreground/fill. How does FCP know to cut using the matte and insert the fill. I would expect that to be somewhere in Effects but I haven’t had time to sit & play with it as I’m using an Autodesk system to finish an 90 min. doc.

The background layer goes on the bottom. The matte layer goes on top of that. The fill layer goes on the very top. Modify>Composite Mode>Travel matte, either luma or alpha gets applied to the top layer.

    All the best,

    Tom

    Thanks Tom
I’ll get on FCP full time pretty soon and then watch me go!
